Delhi: In the context of the Lok Sabha elections, a deep fake video featuring Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has been circulating widely on social media, showing him campaigning for a political party. According to media reports, Khan has responded to the video and filed an FIR with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police concerning the matter.

The video includes an AI-generated deepfake of Khan, targeting the ruling BJP for their promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh in every citizen's account. The creators of the video used a clip from Khan’s TV show 'Satyamev Jayate,' which aired a decade ago.

In the 31-second video, Khan can be heard saying, "If you think India is a poor country, you are mistaken. Every citizen in this country is a lakhpati (a person who owns lakhs of rupees). Each person should have at least Rs 15 lakh." His statement is perceived as a dig at PM Narendra Modi's claim to provide every citizen with Rs 15 lakh. The video concludes with Khan urging viewers to vote for Congress.

In a statement to the media, Khan's spokesperson clarified, "Mr. Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party in his 35-year career. He has focused his efforts on raising public awareness through Election Commission campaigns in many previous elections. We are concerned about the recent viral video claiming that Aamir Khan is endorsing a particular political party. He wants to make it clear that this video is fake and completely false."

The spokesperson added, "Khan has reported the issue to various authorities, including filing an FIR with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police. Mr. Khan encourages all Indians to participate in the electoral process by voting and being active citizens."
