NDTV India joined the league of high bidders by acquiring the second slot for Rs 18.75 crore, the same amount as Zee News on Wednesday.

The amount is expected to increase further for the third and fourth slots.

The e-auction for Bucket C started on Day-3 with the top two channels winning the bid by paying 2.7X of the base price of Rs 7 crore.

When asked if this will become the benchmark for Bucket C, the other bidders told BestMediaInfo.com that except for those who have the highest dependency on free viewers will not get into such mindless bidding.

Earlier today, a senior executive at a leading news channel told BestMediainfo.com that the Hindi general entertainment channels and movie channels secured slots during the first two days of the e-auction by paying merely 35-40% more than the base price.

“If the news genre treats that as a benchmark, they will not go beyond Rs 10-11 crore,” the executive said.
