Zee News revamps 'its' DNA, the show, and literally too

Zee News is set to revamp its prime-time show “DNA” on Tuesday with a new host Sourabh Raj Jain, who played Krishna in Star Plus’ Mahabharat.

The all-new DNA will be telecast every weekday at 9 pm.

Talking about the revamp, Abhay Ojha, CEO, Zee Media Corporation, said that Zee News has opened up the news industry and roped in a popular television actor to host a daily news buletin for the first time.

“So far, we have been seeing one news anchor hopping on to another channel. DNA in its new avatar will be presented by a host who is a household name today,” said Ojha.

When asked about the proposition to rope in a host with non-news background, Ojha said, “In the news television industry, every anchor comes with certain baggage and hence each of them are quite predictable. With a fresh face, Zee News will gain unmatched trust level and its viewers will get ​​a fresh and unique perspective in the analysis of each news piece on the show.”

Jain also played the role of Lord Shiva in Mahakali, a negative character in Chandragupta Maurya and Lord Vishnu in Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev (2011).

He made his debut in the film industry with the English movie Karma: Crime. Passion. Reincarnation (2008). Subsequently, in 2017, he ventured into Telugu cinema with his debut in the movie Om Namo Venkatesaya (2017).

“The show will have only one angle which is a common man’s angle. And Sourabh will become the voice of the common man with DNA,” added Ojha. “Simplifying the big news in simple manner for our viewers is the USP of DNA and Sourabh’s connect with the common man will make the show a common man’s show.”

Ojha said that DNA has touched several milestones and set new benchmarks in terms of TRP and it will contine to remain a credible show through unbiased news coverage.
