The country's leading radio network, Radio City 91.1FM, brings renowned singers like Shaan, Farhan Akhtar, Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy, Salim-Sulaiman, Ayushmann Khurana and Sunidhi in a first live radio concert, Gig City. One of the most compelling innovations in the history of Indian radio, Gig City is the first live multi-city simulcast of a concert where the artists will set audio waves on fire nationally. Gig City follows the concept 'aap jahaan, concert wahaan,' (wherever you are, the concert is there) a one-of-its-kind concert which goes wherever you are with the biggest names in the music industry set to mesmerise you with their music.
The show goes live from June 17, 2016 every Friday 6 pm on Radio City 91.1FM. The show promises to give music lovers a rocking musical experience without leaving the comforts of home or office. Six artists will be performing over 12 weeks.
Speaking about Gig City, Abraham Thomas, CEO, Radio City 91.1FM, said, “After the electrifying launch of Rag Rag Mein Daude City which was like a shot of adrenaline for the entire network, we bring you Gig City. For the first time, experience the energy of a live concert wherever you are. Imagine hearing a Farhan Akhtar or a Shankar Mahadevan live, relaxing on your couch at home! This is unleashing the power of radio from a passive background medium to an active, interactive and engaging medium.”
Speaking of the launch of Gig City, Kartik Kalla, EVP and Head, Programming, Marketing and AudaCITY, said, “Listeners consume great content, not just platforms. Gig City gives us the opportunity to provide engaging content across, on-air and online platforms. In many ways this is different from regular radio programming playing uninterrupted music by the artists that gives a live concert feel.”
