The Film and Television Producers Guild to host inaugural TV awards

Planned as the biggest night for Indian television, the ceremony will take place on December 16, 2015 and broadcast exclusively on Sony

Marking a landmark event for India's television Industry, the industry's apex body, The Film and Television Producers Guild has announced the first-ever edition of the Guild Television Awards to honour the best in the entertainment industry. Planned as the biggest night for Indian television, the ceremony will take place on December 16, 2015 and will be broadcast exclusively on Sony.

Recognizing extraordinary brilliance and legacy of television in our country, the Producers Guild will inaugurate a special awards edition exclusively for the TV fraternity of India. Instituted to commemorate extraordinary achievements in Indian cinema and television, the film and television fraternity congregates every year to celebrate and honour the best contributions and accomplishments in the industry and to celebrate their work in the previous year.

Commenting on the announcement, Mukesh Bhatt, President of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, said, “The television industry has been growing at an exciting pace. With multiple TV channels and genres developing across the spectrum, it is time to celebrate the success. Over the years, we have honoured deserving talent from both film and television industries and this time we have taken a step ahead to specially create a dedicated platform and event to celebrate the success of the television industry. Conceptualized as a joint initiative, The Guild and Wizcraft would work along with the leading broadcast networks and the leading producers to create an event that would celebrate producers, channels, actors, directors and writers on one star-studded stage.

The winners of the Guild Awards are decided by peer-to-peer voting among the film and television fraternity in keeping with its policy of 'By the Industry, For the Industry'. The winners of the Awards are chosen by the Guild's members, making it one of the most credible and much revered accolades. The Guild consists of over 160 members, who constitute some of the most powerful and influential luminaries in the film and television sector.
