MIB gives licences to 193 more MSOs, total figure reaches 1376

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting gave permission to 193 multi-system operators (MSOs) in the months of March and April (till 20). Other than these, a provisional licence for operations was given to Arasu Cable, the Tamil Nadu government-owned player. The sunset date of complete digitisation in the country was March 31, 2017.

With these additions, the total number of MSOs in the country stands at 1376. Considering the last date, the ministry had given permanent licences to all the players, instead of provisional licences.

The companies that got the licences in various states include Nextra Networks, GTPL Chelikam India, Intraworld Entertainments, Hathway CBN Multinet, Shri Sharada Satellite, Asianet Broadband, Hathway Rajesh Multichannel, Libra Cable Network, Gayatri Media and Communication, GTPL Vision Services, among others.

Here is the list of MSOs that were given licences and are deemed registered till 2027.
