Kapil-Sharma-Show-new

It is confirmed that the shoot for the April 1 and 2 episodes of The Kapil Sharma show is scheduled tomorrow (March 29). This is not the first time that comedian Kapil Sharma has been the centre of controversy. He had earlier had a run-in with Colors for his earlier show, Comedy Nights With Kapil (CNWK). This time, Kapil has again kicked up a storm for an in-flight scuffle with his team wherein he was found misbehaving with his own crew on an Air India flight.

His epic separation saga with Colors did have any major effect on the phenomenal success that he created on the Indian television screens with CNWK. It was arguably the first time after Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) that the whole country was driven towards one show in the Hindi GECs.

While the comedian has been in news for all the good-bad-ugly reasons, Sony Entertainment Television took a chance to still take him on board and lead a comedy show called The Kapil Sharma show.

Amidst all the controversy over his arrogance and misbehaviour, the channel states that none of the actors in the show have yet confirmed their exit. Ashish Golwalkar, Senior Vice-President and Senior Creative Director - Content at Sony, said, “We have not yet got any official communication about anybody leaving the show. The shoot is scheduled for tomorrow, March 29, for the episodes to be aired on April 1 and 2.”

While Golwalkar refused to comment on the in-flight fiasco, sources close to the channel confirmed that the reason why Grover was not seen in the March 26 episode was because he had applied for the leave long back as he had some stage performances planned.

“Grover was performing in Chandigarh and has one in Delhi and hence was not supposed to be on the show on March 26 and 27. These stage performances were planned over two months ago and it is merely a coincidence that the scuffle between Grover and Sharma happened around the same time. The original script for the March 26 episode did not have Grover in the first place,” said an official on condition of anonymity.

It must be noted that Grover had left Sharma's team earlier also and he had tried to set up his own show on Star Plus called Mad In India. However, due to lack of viewership and weak performance, the show was soon pulled off air.

Coming back to the latest issue, if one were to believe media reports and market rumours, Sharma had abused his team members including Grover (who plays Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Bhabhi),  Sharda (plays different characters) and Prabhakar (mostly plays the house help) on their way back from Melbourne. The team was on a tour for live performances. After a few initial media reports, Sharma took to Facebook to dismiss the reports saying that “we are friends and friends do fight and that that doesn't make a difference”.

However, the issue took a bitter turn when Grover took to Twitter and told Sharma how hurt he was and that Sharma “needs to get hold of his stardom which was going to his head”.

Some reports say that the Grover, along with a few other cast members, will soon be leaving the show, though the channel has denied that. Sunil, along with Kiku Sharda, Chandan Prabhakar and Ali Asgar, has been boycotting the show.
