The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the last dates of sending comments and suggestions on four of their consultation papers.

For the Consultation Paper on 'Infrastructure Sharing in Broadcasting TV Distribution Sector', the date for submitting written comments by the stakeholders has been extended to October 28, 2016.

Also, for the draft 'Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable Services) (Eighth) (Addressable Systems) Tariff Order, 2016' and 'The Standards of Quality of Service and Consumer Protection (Digital Addressable Systems) Regulations, 2016' released on October 10, the last date for submitting comments and suggestions was October 24 and 25, respectively.

In addition, the latest draft regulation released on October 14, titled 'Interconnection Regulations for TV broadcasting services provided through addressable systems', had invited suggestions before October 28, 2016. The last date for sending comments and suggestions has been extended till November 15, 2016 for these three regulations.

TRAI has mentioned that the objective to upload the drafts of the regulations is to give the stakeholders an opportunity to offer their comments on the proposed regulatory tariff framework for maintaining completeness and consistency of the framework provided in the draft tariff order, draft interconnection regulation and draft standard of Quality of Service and Consumer Protection Regulation.

TRAI also pointed out that in many earlier cases, Open House Discussions (OHD) were also conducted to further discuss the issues with the stakeholders pertaining to those specific consultation papers.

In this case, however, TRAI has strictly stated that no further extensions will be given to the stakeholders.
