Colors' growth and Zee TV's decline brought the channels to a difference of 2 million Impressions. Star Plus stayed at the top in Week 36 of BARC data

In Week 36 (September 3-9, 2016) of BARC data, Star Plus continued to stay atop despite some decline in its viewership and maintained the leadership margin from the No. 2 Hindi GEC Zee TV. Zee TV's decline and Colors' growth brought both the channels within a kissing distance with a difference of 2 million Impressions in Urban+Rural markets. Zee Anmol held No. 4 position followed by Star Utsav and Life OK at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

In U+R markets, Star Plus recorded 744 million Impressions followed by Zee TV with 579 million and Colors with 577 million Impressions. Zee Anmol was at No. 4 position with 486 million Impressions followed by Star Utsav with 435 million Impressions.

Life OK stood firm at No. 6 with 412 million Impressions while Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 382 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television overtook Sony SAB to become No. 8 channel with 381 million Impressions while the later slipped to 369 million Impressions. Risthey stayed at No. 10 with 339 million Impressions.

Top programmes in U+R

In combined (U+R) markets, Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya lost a few eyeballs but retained its lead with 11.8 million Impressions. Zee TV's Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan jumped one position to No. 2 with 11.5 million Impressions. Star Plus show Saath Nibhana Saathia slipped to No. 3 position this week 10.4 million Impressions while Colors' Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsas Ki stayed at No. 4 with 9.8 million Impressions. Star Plus' Yeh Hai Mohabbatein was at to No. 5 position with 9.2 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban markets

Star Plus' leadership margin from Colors in Urban markets narrowed this week to 106 million Impressions from last week's 140 million Impressions. Star Plus recorded 499 million Impressions in urban markets followed by Colors with 393 million Impressions. Zee TV remained third most watched channel with 326 million Impressions. Life OK came fourth in urban markets pushing SAB TV at No. 5. Life OK garnered 270 million Impressions while Sony SAB recorded 269 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was also too close with 266 million Impressions. &TV retained No. 7 position recording 152 million Impressions in urban markets. FTA channels Zee Anmol, Star Utsav and Sony Pal were at No. 8, 9 and 10 with 110 102 and 97 million Impressions, respectively.

Top Programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee TV's Brahmarakshas grabbed the top position this week with 6.9 million Impressions while Saath Nibhana Sathiya on Star Plus was a close No. 2 with 6.9 million Impressions. Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya slipped to No. 3 with 6.8 million Impressions followed by Colors' Shakti at No. 4 position with 6.6 million Impressions. The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony returned to the top-5 club with 6.3 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Rural markets

In the Rural markets, Zee Anmol continued to rule the charts with 376 million Impressions followed by Star Utsav at No. 2 with 333 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood firm at No. 3 with 285 million Impressions while Rishtey grew to No. 4 position with 255 million Impressions. Zee TV was at No. 5 with 253 million Impressions followed by Star Plus at No. 6 with 245 million Impressions.

Colors remained at No. 7 with 183 million Impressions followed by Life OK at No. 8 with 143 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television and SAB TV were at No. 9 and 10 with 115 and 100 million Impression, respectively.
