Fourth Dimension Media Solutions in association with Farhad Wadia's team brings back India's oldest and loudest music fest, the 'Independence Rock Festival.'

The Chennai-based outsourcing company, Fourth Dimension Media Solutions, has marked its footprints not only in television, radio and magazine but also in areas such as outdoor, cable, digital, YouTube and so on. Shankar B, CEO of Fourth Dimension, has also been a part of Farhad Wadia's team during his stint in E18.

Speaking about the event Shankar said, “I have been a part of I Rock for two years and have successfully done shows like Jethro Tull Anoushka Shankar, Tribute to 26/11 victims and also Bacardi Blast In Goa in Dec 2009. I have also done an event for Jim Beam at Hard Rock Cafe in Mumbai apart from tribute to Rolling Stones and Scorpions in Chennai in October 2014.”

Farhad Wadia is the moving force and the long-time promoter of the Independence Rock Festival, organised annually on Independence Day in Mumbai for the last 27 years. Besides that he has spent over three decades in the media and entertainment industry and has vast experience in managing radio, TV, print, brand solutions and luxury retail businesses in India, the UAE and now in the USA where he is based out of Austin Texas. Some of the companies he has worked with in the past include HT Media, Channel 4 Networks UAE, Power Productions and Radio Star India and now he is the CEO of Samuels Jewellers in the USA wherein he runs four chains of a 108 specialty jewellery stores.

The music festival is one of the oldest and biggest rock festivals and has earned the sobriquet – 'Woodstock of India.' It is the biggest platform for Rock bands in India and has been the cradle and barometer of the Indian rock music scene. Independence Rock has been committed to giving a platform to independent music and artist and at the same time promoting them.

Today, some of these artists have found recognition on a national level and has brought them strong following across the nation. Almost every major Indian Rock act over the last 27 years has performed here and every Indian Rock Band that has ever made any impact in the country has been discovered at Independence Rock. A few who rose to fame are Parikrama, Zero, Pentagram, Motherjane, Them Clones, Demonic Resurrection, Pin Drop Violence, Indus Creed, Agni, Brahma and Gary Lawyer among others.

This year the festival will be much bigger than the last couple of years with promotions on social media and other promotional vehicles. There is also the possibility that the finalists may record an album with a prominent record company. Shankar adds, “We will be taking auditions in the metros where we have already received 800 entries. And these entries have come from cities close to the metros as well.”

Elaborating, Shankar mentioned that they will be doing 360? marketing around the festival with major focus on television, while print, radio and outdoor will follow. The festival is likely to rope in four to five sponsors soon. The finals of I-Rock will be in Mumbai in the first week of September.
