After a dramatic leap in Colors' flagship show 'Balika Vadhu', the channel's magnum opus, 'Chakaravartin Ashok Samrat', also takes a similar ten-year leap. Replacing the protagonist child artist Siddharth Nigam will be Mohit Raina of Mahadev fame in the role of grown-up Ashoka.

Following the ten-year leap, the show will narrate the story of Ashoka's new avatar called Chand (merciless) – a vindictive force whose aggression will win him the throne of Pataliputra and eventually make him the Greatest Emperor of Akhand Bharat (Undivided India). The show is produced by Contiloe Pictures.

The show will at the same time focus on Ashoka's blossoming tender love story with the feisty and beautiful Kaurwaki played Somya Seth. This new chapter in Ashoka's life will unfold tonight. The show's television ratings are currently hovering around 2-2.3 TVR.

Manisha Sharma, Programming Head, Colors, said, “Since its launch, 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat' has enjoyed tremendous viewership across age groups. As we take a generation leap, the show will now focus on the emotional turmoil inside Ashoka as he becomes Chand (the feared), his return to Pataliputra following his exile, and his unflinching love for Kaurwaki making him a multi-faceted character that will appeal to the viewers' sensibilities.”

'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat' brings together the best minds from the world of entertainment and a cast ensemble comprising Ankit Arora as Sushim, Kajol Shrivastav as Devi and Dakssh Ajit Singh as Radhagupta, apart from Mohit Raina and Somya Seth. The show also features actors Sameer Dharmadhikari and Pallavi Subhash who have immortalized the characters of Emperor Bindusar and Dharma, respectively.

Abhimanyu Singh, CEO, Contiloe Pictures, commented, “It is very encouraging to see the love and affection shown by the audience for this historic show. It was our endeavour to show the life and journey of the greatest emperor who has ruled and created this nation. While a chapter in his life has concluded, a new one is about to begin. His journey will now show how he created the empire of India against all odds.”

Colors will also live-stream on Facebook (www.facebook.com/COLORSTV) the grand unveiling of Ashoka from the grand sets at ND Studios in Karjat.
