After tasting success with its first web series titled Confessions--It's Complicated, FremantleMedia is toying with the idea of bringing in more such programmes and even a second season of Confessions.

Vidyuth Bhandary Vidyuth Bhandary

Vidyuth Bhandary, Business Head, FremantleMedia said, “With the tremendous success of the ongoing web series, we definitely plan on taking this venture further. We have a number of exciting web series in the pipeline. Judging by brilliant viewership we have received so far, we definitely see a possibility of season 2. Also, we have a number of advertisers who believe in the show and are willing to continue their association.”

Launched on Facebook on April 4, 2016, the series has garnered nine million views within 40 days. It is an interactive show, where in the three protagonists were in touch with the viewers through their individual Facebook accounts. Bhandary explained why Facebook: “As a platform Facebook is all about interaction with the audience, be it with the individual profiles of the three girls, FB Live or other verticals. You don't get such interactivity on other platforms. Though the show and the girls have a good number of fans on Twitter and Instagram.”

Launched exclusively first on Facebook Live, one of the first shows to explore Facebook's new tool, Confessions is a story of three girls Nupur Murthy, Sameera Saxena and Raka Ghosh who move to Mumbai to pursue their dreams. The show is presented by Myntra and its associate sponsors include Saavn, Tata Nano GenX and Gilette Venus. The show's soundtrack has been composed by ace musician Leslie Lewis.

Confessions--It's Complicated has new episodes which go online every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a special confessions episode every Saturday.

According to Bhandary, the Facebook pages of the three girls (protagonists) too have received a great amount of traction. “We constantly receive advice from the viewers, suggesting how the girls should handle the situation on the show. It's great to see how people actually believe that the three girls are living the life of the characters.”

The makers have spent a good amount of time developing marketing plans and strategies for the show. It included platforms that can go viral on Facebook, including GIFS, Meme, Cinemagraphs, Facebook Live, among others.

The show was made for digital only but has the response prompted them to explore other platforms? Bhandary says, “Currently, the show is purely digital and we recently tied up with Saavn which is promoting the series on its platforms. But yes, we definitely are considering exploring other mediums once we finish our series run. Even on digital, we are constantly seeking to innovate and explore more opportunities. We've just started off and we are eager to experiment.”
