Hindi general entertainment channels celebrated Diwali in terms of ratings post Diwali week, i.e. Week 46 of BARC ratings, as all top 10 channels witnessed growth in their viewership. However, Sony Entertainment Television was the largest gainer of the lot as the channel rose to seventh position by adding 87 TVM to its gross viewership.

The rise in viewership of Colors took the channel closer to No. 2 channel Zee Anmol, and gave the channel a comfortable lead over Zee TV. DD National failed to return to top-10 club in Week 46 as well.

According to the select data shared by BARC India for Week 46 for Hindi general entertainment channels (November 14 to November 20) {HSM : NCCS All : Individuals : BARC India base – All India (U+R)}, Star Plus retained the leadership position followed by Zee Anmol at No. 2. As Colors strengthened its position at No. 3, it widened the gap from No. 4 channel Zee TV. Star Utsav and Life OK were at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.

Star Plus grew by 48 TVM and further cemented its leadership with a gross viewership of 796 TVM (last week 748 TVM).

Zee Anmol, the FTA channel from Zee stable, retained its viewership and No. 2 position. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 719 TVM (last week 718 TVM).

Colors strengthened its position at No. 3 by adding 52 TVM. The channel had recorded a gross viewership of 709 TVM (last week 657 TVM).

Zee TV was at No. 4 position with a gross viewership of 648 TVM against last week's 638 TVM.

Star Utsav held fifth position with a gross viewership of 519 TVM (last week 499 TVM).

Life OK too recovered a bit from the last week's steep fall. By adding 36 TVM, the channel grew to a gross viewership of 478 TVM (last week 442 TVM).

Sony Entertainment Television rose two positions to No. 7 this week by adding 87 TVM to its gross viewership. The channel had recorded 389 TVM against last week's 302 TVM.

Sony Pal held its No. 8 position and grew further to 360 TVM (last week 306 TVM).

SAB TV slipped to No. 9 position from last week's seventh position. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 357 TVM (last week 338 TVM).

Rishtey was at No. 10 with a gross viewership of 319 TVM (last week 283 TVM).

Top 5 programmes on Hindi GECs

As per select data (HSM : NCCS All : Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs) : Individuals : BARC India base – All India (U+R), Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' retained the top position with an average viewership of 16.3 TVM (last week 15.6 TVM).

'Kumkum Bhagya' on Zee TV remained the second most watched show across Hindi GECs with a viewership of 15.9 TVM (last week 15.1 TVM).

Star Plus' show 'Ye Hai Mohabattein' was stable at No. 3 position with a viewership of 13.2 TVM (last week 13.5 TVM).

Colors' 'Sasural Simar Ka' returned to the top-5 club with an average viewership of 11.8 TVM.

Zee Anmol's 'Jodha Akbar' garnered an average viewership of 11.5 TVM (last week 12.1 TVM).
