The Hindi news genre is a keenly contested space with fortunes changing regularly. Week 38 (September 19-September 25) of BARC ratings, too, witnessed a change in hierarchy, with India TV regaining the top spot.

According to select data, (HSM : NCCS All : 15+ : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), India TV rose to the top spot with a viewership of 28,990 (ratings in sum of 000s).

Aaj Tak dropped to the second place with a viewership of 26,217 (ratings in sum of 000s).

Zee News slipped to the third spot with a viewership of 25,930 (ratings in sum of 000s).

English news channels

Week 38 of BARC ratings saw the top English news channels registering a fall in viewership.

According to select data, (All India : NCCS AB : Males 22+ : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), Times Now lost over 60 TVT, but comfortably held on to the top spot with a viewership of 334 (ratings in sum of 000s).

India Today Television saw a fall in viewership of over 70 TVT, but that didn't stop it from climbing up to the No. 2 spot with a viewership of 129 (ratings in sum of 000s).

CNN-IBN was back among the top three and was placed third behind India Today Television though both the channels secured the same viewership of 129 (ratings in sum of 000s).

Meanwhile, NDTV 24x7, which was placed second in Week 37 with a viewership of 233 (ratings in sum of 000s), dropped out of the top 3 this week.

Business news

Having dethroned CNBC-TV18 last week, ET Now further consolidated its top position in Week 38.

As per select data (All India : NCCS AB : Males 22+ : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), ET Now retained its top spot with a viewership of 236 (ratings in sum of 000s).

CNBC-TV18 was placed second with a viewership of 192 (ratings in sum of 000s), while NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime stayed third with a viewership of 46 (ratings in sum of 000s).

Meanwhile, the order in the Hindi business news genre remained unchanged.

As per select data (HSM : NCCS AB : Males 22+ : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), CNBC Awaaz continued to lead the genre with a viewership of 825 (ratings in sum of 000s).

Zee Business garnered a viewership of 485 (ratings in sum of 000s) in Week 38.
