Tata Sky violates MIB order on airing Doordarshan channels
DD Bharati and some other Doordarshan channels, including DD UP, DD MP, DD Bihar and DD Rajasthan are not being carried by Tata Sky on its network
BestMediaInfo Bureau | Delhi | June 19, 2015
DD Bharati, the channel dedicated to art and culture, has been taken off by DTH operator Tata Sky since June 13, 2015 without any official information and continues to remain off air.
This is in violation of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's (MIB) order issued vide 8(12)/2007-BP&L dated September 6, 2013 that makes it mandatory for all DTH operators to carry all Doordarshan channels on their network.
DD Bharati and some other Doordarshan channels, including DD UP, DD MP, DD Bihar and DD Rajasthan are not being carried by Tata Sky on its network, which amounts to violation of the Government of India rules.
Doordarshan reiterates the fact as laid by the Government order that it is obligatory for every DTH operator to carry all Doordarshan channels, irrespective of any bouquet(s) or a-la-carte channel(s) being subscribed by subscribers. The DTH operators shall also place the channels in the respective genre and shall display them in full television screen.
The issue has been taken up by Prasar Bharati with MIB, who has been requested to initiate action against Tata Sky.
