Ola Air, the personal city-based chopper service, was the new service 'launched' by Ola on April 1, 2015. The announcement was done through a new online film detailing the specifics of the service, and included detailed descriptions from the team, including the CEO, at Ola that worked on the project. As the day progressed, it all turned out to be an April Fool prank from Ola.
Kartik Iyer
Speaking about the initiative, Kartik Iyer, CEO, Happy Creative Services, informed that this could be the first Indian company to have played a prank at this scale for the Fool's Day. “When we presented the idea to Ola, everyone got committed to the film. It was wonderful to see the CEO of the company backing a project like this.”
The company even created a fake microsite to give life to the idea – www.olaair.com. The announcement film was launched in the wee hours of the Fool's Day. Apart from promoting the chopper service, the film seamlessly integrated the genuine features and services that are provided by the Ola app, including Ola Cafe and tracking the cabs.
