GEC Watch: In BARC regime, Star Plus leads SD; Colors leads HD ratings

In prime time, Colors emerges as No. 1, followed by Star Plus and Zee TV in the first BARC data released for Week 16 of 2015

With the beginning of new television ratings era by BARC India, Hindi general entertainment channels have started afresh. As the new ratings data should not be compared with any old data, Week 16 (April 18 – April 24) is the starting point for television ratings.

According to the data (Ratings in thousands) shared by BARC India for Week 16 (April 18 – April 24) for HSM, 1L+ HHs, Star Plus has emerged as the most watched Hindi GEC. The channel has recorded a gross rating of 170 million in Week 16. In prime time, Star Plus stood second with a gross rating of 80 million. In HD, Star Plus was at No. 3.

Star Plus is closely followed by Colors with a gross rating of 151 million. In prime time, Colors was number one Hindi GEC with a gross rating of 86 million. The channel was a distant leader in HD.

Life OK stood No. 3 Hindi GEC recording a gross rating of 126 million.

Zee TV recorded a gross rating of 106 million and fared at No. 4 position. In prime time, the channel was at No. 3 with a gross rating of 54 million. Zee TV HD was at No. 2 in Week 16.

At No. 5 was SAB TV with a gross rating of 90 million.

Sony Entertainment Television fared at No. 6 with a gross rating of 80 million.

&TV stood No. 7 and recorded a gross rating of 37 million.

Zee Anmol, Star Utsav and Sony Pal recorded 21, 16 and 14 million gross ratings respectively.
