MasterCard has announced that Ari Sarker will take on additional responsibilities as Country Corporate Officer for India with immediate effect. This appointment will be concurrent with his current role as Division President, South Asia, and he will continue to report to Vicky Bindra, President, Asia Pacific & Global Accounts, MasterCard.

In this new role, Sarker will facilitate greater collaboration across MasterCard's units, businesses, joint ventures and acquisitions in India, thereby enabling a collective country view on key issues. He will also be responsible for identifying and executing strategic initiatives that bolster MasterCard's presence in India.

As Division President, South Asia, a role he's held since 2012, Sarker leads the South Asia team in the performance, strategic direction and brand development of MasterCard's core business in India. He also ensures that the company continues to deliver innovative solutions that build on opportunities in the nascent but fast-rising, emerging payments segment to achieve the company's vision of a world beyond cash.

On Sarker's appointment, Bindra said, “It's an interesting time for the payments industry and we are poised for the next wave of growth in India. In the past four years, Ari has demonstrated strong leadership and a successful track record of driving growth in our network processing capabilities under Global Products and Solutions (GP&S) for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa previously, and across the payment value chain. I'm confident he will continue our business momentum and continue to strengthen our partnerships in this critical market for MasterCard.”

Prior to joining MasterCard, Sarker spent over 12 years with General Electric in a variety of senior roles across several key markets in America, Europe & Asia Pacific.
