History TV18 has announced the launch of its new property 'Vital Stats of India' which will be aired, starting today, at 9 PM. Sharing the thought behind the show, Sangeetha Aiyer, VP and Head, Marketing, A+E Networks I TV18 JV, said, “The initial idea and inspiration was drawn from a similar show called 'United Stats of America'. Keeping the basic concept intact, we decided to bring it to Indian audiences by showcasing compelling statistics about our country, and sharing stories around numbers relevant to India. So 'Vital Stats of India' is completely different from what we have done earlier.”

The show will touch six definitive aspects of India and will see the dynamic duo Rocky and Mayur embark on an unusual journey, bringing out astounding realities and aspects which make us uniquely India. The topics that will be discussed on the show include  - 'size and diversity', 'food', 'rupee', 'cricket', 'Bollywood' and 'elections'.

“The brief was simple - how do you make statistics fun and easy to understand for a common man? For instance, we went to a condom factory in Aurangabad to explain demographics, we visited a bat-factory in Meerut that manufactures most of the bats used by our cricket team to bring out the craze of cricket, and played at a casino in Goa to understand traditional Indian mentality related to money. The show's content is something that any Indian will be able to identify with,” Aiyer stated.

The show involves extensive travel across Bengaluru, Mysore, Meerut, Goa, Aurangabad, Mumbai and Delhi. To introduce fun and uniqueness to the show, there is something called 'time travel'. This part of the show will share historical anecdotes and incidents in a very fascinating 'time travel' format, in order to be visually appealing to the viewers.

“Rocky and Mayur have a large fan following and they are synonymous with travel shows. They are popular and their chemistry and their irreverent fun take on things works well for a show like this,” she added.

The show will be promoted across Network18 and Viacom channels and heavily on social media platforms. “The show is in line with History TV18's promise of creating clutter-breaking content and pushing the envelope on programming. This premise of innovation cuts across every facet of the channel. In an effort to reach out to its highly active and vocal audience online, the channel is launching a slew of initiatives linked to the show to drive buzz and engagement,” Aiyer said.

Exclusive content is being created for those using the History TV18 app. Users will also get to see special two-three minute videos created exclusively for them. The 10 odd clips will include some of the best parts of the show; produced with international quality standards of television. The app will also have a quiz which users can play to win branded memorabilia. The questions will be asked real-time during the episode telecast and fans can answer these on the app. This unique feature is an attempt to take the second screen to the next level; fans can continue to engage and discuss the show in a specially created chat-room.

Besides this, Rocky and Mayur will live-tweet before the show premiere, to drive buzz and curiosity. The channel will also partner with Storypick.com for weekly stories on interesting and unique OMG facts about the various aspects of India.
