Hindi general entertainment channels witnessed drop in viewership of weekday shows in Week 43 of TAM 2014 owing to the Diwali festivities. Weekday primetime dropped by 80 TVM on pre-Diwali and Diwali nights across the Hindi GECs. However, special programming planned in other day parts to counter the Diwali dip helped Star Plus, Colors, Sony and SAB TV sustain their ratings.

Star Plus' 'Star Box Office Awards' rated 4.5 TVM over 3 hours and 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein mini movie' garnered 2 TVM. On Colors, 'Indian Telly Awards' scored 3.6 TVM over 3 hours.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 43 of TAM 2014 (October 19 – October 25) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus' dominance grew to five shows among weekday top 10 shows. Zee TV had three shows in the top 10 followed by Colors with two shows and SAB TV with one show.

'Bigg Boss Season 8' on Colors garnered an average viewership of 4.1 TVM against last week's average of 4.4 TVM.

'Comedy Night with Kapil' continued to rule weekend programming with an average viewership of 6.4 TVM.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVM, 000000's)

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum retained the top slot recording an average viewership of 8.8 TVM this week (last week 9.1 TVM).

Star Plus' Sathiya Saath Nibhana held No. 2 position with an average viewership of 6.9 TVM (last week 8.1 TVM).

Zee TV's Jodha Akbar was unmoved at No. 3 position fetching an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 8 TVM).

Ye Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus also retained its No. 4 position. The show recorded 6.7 TVM this week (last week 7.5 TVM).

Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai jumped one position to No. 5 this week. The show recorded an average viewership of 6.5 TVM (last week 6.8 TVM).

Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV slipped one position to No. 6 with an average viewership of 6.3 TVM (last week 7.4 TVM).

Colors' Sasural Simar Ka held No. 7 position with an average viewership of 5.7 TVM (last week 6.7 TVM).

Jamai Raja on Zee TV too was unmoved at No. 8. The show garnered an average viewership of 5.5 TVM (last week 6.6 TVM).

Star Plus' Ek Hasina Thi entered the top-10 club with an average viewership of 5.1 TVM against last week's 5.7 TVM.

Tarak Mehta on SAB TV and Udaan on Colors jointly held No. 10 position with an average viewership of 5 TVM against last week's 6 TVM.

Weekend toppers

Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors retained the top position among weekend shows. The show fetched an average viewership of 6.4 TVM (last week 6.9 TVM).

Sony's crime series, CID, fetched 3.1 TVM against last week's 2.7 TVM.

Zee TV's Neeli Chhatri Wale recorded a viewership of 2.9 TVM (last week 2.4 TVM).

Dil Se Naache Indiwaale on Zee TV dropped to 2 TVM from last week's 2.2 TVM.

Sony's another crime series, Crime Patrol, was unmoved at 1.6 TVM.

Life OK's Dare to Dance held its viewership of 1.6 TVM.

Comedy Classes on Life OK fetched 1.5 TVM (last week 1.8).
