Ten-Sports-logoTen Sports has secured the Indian sub-continent broadcast rights for the next Commonwealth Games which will be held in Australia's Gold Coast from April 4 – 15, 2018.

As for the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Ten Sports has acquired free-to-air and pay TV subscription television rights, plus those for new media (incorporating Internet and mobile) and radio for the 2018 Commonwealth Games across a wide-ranging territory that includes India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Rajesh Sethi, Global CEO of Ten Sports, said, “After the enormous success of Glasgow 2014, we are very happy to extend our partnership with the Commonwealth Games Federation for the 21st edition to be held in Gold Coast, Australia. The ever increasing Indian participation and success at these Games is very encouraging and we at Ten Sports will continue delivering the best of action from the 17 sporting disciplines in the coming years which will serve as a great build-up to the Commonwealth Games 2018.”

Ten Sports' comprehensive coverage of Glasgow 2014 came in for a lot of praise and contributed to the increased viewership and enormous success of the Games in the Indian sub-continent. Watching athletes compete for the nation is always extra special and Ten Sports is the first private broadcaster in the Indian sub-continent to give multi-channel coverage of the games along with in-depth studio analysis and build-up shows to educate audiences about the sporting disciplines and medal prospects.

Viewers will have more opportunities to witness such hi quality programming and coverage with this new deal and also with the Asian Games in September-October this year where Ten Sports is the exclusive broadcaster in the territory.

Announcing the agreement, Michael Hooper, CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation, said, “The arrangement we have reached with Ten Sports to become another of our broadcast partners for 2018, coming as it does on the heels of the CGF's deal announced earlier this week with Australia's Seven Network, is testament to how popular the Commonwealth Games brand has become across the world. It also demonstrates how the magic and excitement of the Games translates into immense value for broadcasters. Glasgow 2014 was a phenomenal success, and in 2018 the Gold Coast will deliver its own unique celebration to audiences around the globe.”
