MTS' new campaign has made the right amount of noise in the digital and advertising world. Having received positive reviews for the TVC, what more could MTS do to take it forward? Well, they could give away free dongles to babies born, literally, in the internet generation. Oh wait. That IS what they are doing!

MTS has just completed five years in India on March 26, 2014. As a way to celebrate, they have launched a campaign with a twist. As part of the celebration, MTS will be offering a free MBlaze Ultra Dongle and 10 GB data free to all babies born on March 26 2014.

“Our fifth birthday is an important occasion for us. We entered the market and quickly gained a loyal customer base. So we wanted to celebrate it in a way that would be meaningful for both the customer and the media,” said Amitesh Rao, Director - Brand & Media, MTS India.

The idea for such an initiative came partly because of the brand positioning. MTS has always positioned the brand in a way around the key data consuming generation. They have been clear about the type of customers they are targeting. Therefore, this initiative was just a way of bringing this positioning to life.

“The overwhelmingly positive feedback we got for our 'internet baby' campaign made us think we could dial it up a notch. So, though this initiative wasn't actually related to the internet baby campaign, it has become an extension of it,” Rao added.

To claim the offer, parents of newborn babies just need to register on the MTS India website (www.mtsindia.in) and visit select MTS branded retail stores with requisite documents. The initiative is being rolled out across all nine circles – Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh (West), Kolkata and West Bengal. For the benefit of customers, MTS has provided a 21-day window starting March 26 till April 16, 2014 to avail of this offer.

Leonid Musatov, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer, MTS India, said, “Brand  MTS, as part of its fifth anniversary celebrations in India, wanted to do something unique for data customers. Given the recent success of the 'Born for the internet' campaign, it was only fitting that we rolled out something as innovative as offering an MBlaze Ultra dongle, bundled with 10 GB data, to parents of all babies born on 26th March, 2014.”

Since MTS majorly targets the people who are online, they chose to do the publicity online as well through their Facebook page and Twitter.

Along with this initiative, MTS has also arranged some other offers for their anniversary week which includes discounted tariffs and freebies. A special 'super unlimited pack' was launched last week whereby postpaid users could recharge with Rs 999 and get, instead of 10 GB, data worth 40 GB.
