A world television premiere of the highest grosser at the box office starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, 'Chennai Express', and the return of the highest ever rated dance reality show, Dance India Dance, changed the fortunes of Zee TV in Week 43 (October 20 - October 26) of TAM 2013 and took the channel at the top of the heap of Hindi general entertainment channels. However, Zee TV's fiction shows didn't fare too well and the channel was left with one show, Jodha Akbar, in the top 10 weekday shows.

On the other hand, Star Plus continued to rule weekday programming with six of its fiction shows in the top 10. Besides, Colors' fiction shows also improved and the channel held two slots in the top 10 list. According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for CS 4+, HSM markets, SAB TV's Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma continued to be among the top 5 shows.

'Chennai Express', which is reckoned to be the highest-priced acquisition of a Hindi movie ever by a television channel, broke all movie television premiere records across GECs and became the biggest grosser in terms of ratings and reach. The movie was televised on Zee TV on October 20 at 8 PM.
