IBN7's initiative to support Uttarakhand victims

publive-imageIn the wake of the recent catastrophe in Uttarakhand where flashfloods and landslides left thousands dead and missing, people are now facing acute shortage of food and are deprived of basic necessities such as clothes, medicines, blankets and tarpaulin sheets for shelter.

IBN7, India's preferred Hindi news channel, has come up with 'Apno ki Madad, IBN7 ki Muhim', an initiative to help the people in distraught, in Uttrakhand. As part of this initiative, IBN7 asked viewers to donate basic necessities apart from cash which would be useful for the stranded people. On June 22 and 23 IBN7 collected relief material at five places -- Patel Nagar, Chandni Chowk, AIIMS, Hansraj College & Noida. In just two days, relief material worth over two crores was collected for the cause. Over 5,000 people contributed more than 350 tonnes of relief material which were loaded onto 40 trucks and dispatched to Uttarakhand.

To ensure minute by minute coverage of the catastrophe, ten senior journalists from the channel were present at key locations, covering from ground zero. IBN7 invited viewers to come to the bureau offices in various parts of the country and record their messages, which were later aired on the channel. Also, IBN7 has constantly been showcasing pictures of people who're missing in Uttrakhand, of which 2,600 have been aired till date.

With this initiative, IBN7 has once again proved the connect it shares with the citizens of India.
