Appoints Rana Barua as COO (West & South), Amardeep Singh as CCO (North & East) and Samir Datar as Vice-President, Strategic Planning

Law & Kenneth has strengthened its senior management with three appointments. Rana Barua has joined the agency as Chief Operating Officer for West and South while Amardeep Singh has been appointed Chief Creative Officer for North and East. The agency has appointed Samir Datar as Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning.
Commenting on these appointments, Anil Nair, CEO and Managing Partner, Law & Kenneth India, said, "Keeping our next phase of growth in mind, the appointments were on cards for a long time. I’m sure the new members will help take the agency to the new highs.”
An Innovative marketing, multi-media communications specialist and a thought leader with 17 years of management experience, Rana Barua will be based in Mumbai and report to Nair. He leveraged his skills across global and local brands in agencies like Ogilvy, McCann and Y&R with demonstrated creativity and business success. Barua is highly skilled in cross category solutions and media services, resulting in integrated media marketing solutions that are driven by consumer insights and understanding.
Barua’s last assignment was with India's largest and highly awarded Radio Station - RED 93.5 FM where he was COO for 2 years. Prior to Red FM, he was Head of Marketing & Programming of another India's leading station - Radio City for 4 years.
On joining Law & Kenneth as COO -West & South, Barua said, “I was clear that my stint with Radio was getting limited with expansion plans miles away. And my understanding and exposure to the ever evolving media space over the last 6 years made me realise that my expertise would come in best with the changing Indian advertising and communication solutions environment. As Chief Creative Officer for North and East, Singh will be based in Delhi and will report to Charles Victor, National Creative Director, Law & Kenneth. He has worked with agencies such as Mudra, Trikaya Grey, McCann Erickson, Contract, Dentsu Communications, M&C Saatchi and Law & Kenneth.
Last year Singh co-founded Hammer Communications but soon figured out that it is not his cup of tea. He resigned from Hammer in April this year. This is his second stint with Law & Kenneth.
On his joining, Singh said “It feels great to be back. I'm excited and honoured for the opportunity that PK and Anil have given to me”.
Singh, who has about 22 years of experience, has worked across an array of brands like Jet Airways, SAS, Domino’s, Coke, Perfetti, Yamaha, Hindustan Motors, Suzuki, Seagram’s, RadicoKhaitan, Bacardi, Nestle, SmithKline Beecham, Dabur, Reckitt & Coleman, JK Tyres, Apollo Tyres, Grasim, NIIT, Royal Bank of Scotia, ABN Amro Bank, GPI Bravery, PVR Cinemas, Oberoi Hotels, The Lalit, Toshali Resorts, Bausch & Lomb, DLF Malls andUnitech.
He wrote Domino’s “Ta nanananaree, O pizza aye free” jingle and TVCs, featuring PareshRawal. These were awarded Effie Silver and Campaign of the year at Delhi Ad Club. He also penned down GPI Bravery ‘Train’ TVC that got him ABBY award.
“In my new role, I’m looking forward to create sound communication solutions that make brands visible. I am also keen to work towards creating an inspiring work environment at the agency’s Delhi and Kolkata offices. Also, one of my key agendas is to raise the creative bar further up in both the zones assigned to me,” explained Singh about his role at the agency.
As Senior Vice President – Strategic Planning, Samir Datar will be based in Delhi. With a career spanning 20 years and diverse product categories – from tractors to telecom infrastructure and everything in between – Datar has worked at JWT, Cheil & LG Ad. He has worked on brands like Maggi, Samsung, Hyundai & Nature Fresh.
On joining Law & Kenneth, Datar said, “I believe that Law & Kenneth is the most exciting & challenging place to be right now and I look forward to contributing my bit to the excitement.”
