The National Government Vertical of Dainik Bhaskar Group has announced the second edition of 'Power Vision Conclave' at the national level to discuss and highlight the issues related to power sector in India. The Power Vision Conclave 2012 will be held on March 26, 2012, at Hotel Shangri-La in New Delhi.

To set the agenda for the conclave, Dainik Bhaskar organised an Advisory Board meeting in New Delhi on March 2, 2012, under the chairmanship of Coal Secretary Alok Perti. Others who attended included ICP Keshari, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power; SK Roongta, MD, Vedanta Group; RP Singh, Executive Vice-Chairman, Jindal Group; Yatish Rajawat, Managing Editor, Dainik Bhaskar Group; and Jaideep Dhagat, Senior General Manager and Business Head, National Government Vertical, Dainik Bhaskar Group.

Speaking on this occasion, Dhagat said, “The National Government Vertical of Dainik Bhaskar Group had organised the first Power Conclave on January 21, 2011, which was a remarkable success and well accepted by the industry. The second edition of Power Conclave will be held on March 26, 2012 for which the advisory board has set the final agenda. We have taken the debate to the next level, extending it to important areas like logistics and alternative energy. We have refined the topics to enable deeper insights to be shared by eminent speakers and panelists.”

Coal Secretary Perti said, “The conclave held last year was fairly successful. It raised topical problems and we think that Dainik Bhaskar Group's Power Vision Conclave brings to focus before all stakeholders and the public the issues being faced by the power sector.”

“We are taking the entire subject forward. Taking the experience from the previous year's meeting, this year we are far more focused and we are looking at issues that are trouble spots for the sector. We are trying to find solutions by taking views from cross-sectional people including government, power producers, bankers and logistics. I hope that this would generate a good discussion and throw up issues that may give a direction for finding solutions,” Perti added.

Keshari, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, said, “It is a wonderful initiative and I'm quite hopeful that second edition of Power Vision Conclave will be much better than the first edition. The issues being discussed and suggestions being made at this conclave are useful for the entire country. “

Speaking on the meeting, Keshari added, “The advisory board has the representation from public sector, private sector and government. We could come out with the suggestions on the most relevant, contemporary and challenging issues faced by power sector. In this meeting, we have finalised our list of speakers. I'm hopeful that the conclave will enrich all the stakeholders with issues, challenges and knowledge of power.”

Jindal Group's Singh commented, “I was a part of last year's Power Vision Conclave and this year I'm a part of the Advisory Board also. The conclave deals with the issues pertaining to generation, distribution and transmission and it aims to benefit the stakeholders. Overall, the issues related to financing, risks involved, consumer and transmission companies will be taken up in detail. I wish this endeavor continues every year.”

Jindal Group is the principal sponsor of the conclave while Haryana and Karnataka are the State Partners. There are several other sponsors including Power Finance Corporation, REC, Paharpur Cooling Towers, Sunil Hitech, Soumya Mining, to name a few.
