Grihshobha magazine, which acquired rave reviews last month for its Super-Wrap Innovation, once again presents a game-changing cover and editorial format. In a photo-shoot of 15 of India's Golden Girls (gold-medalists) of Indian sports spanning a 3-page wide cover that opens up in a never-before format, across all eight languages.

Grihshobha magazine unveils its biggest Grand Annual issue yet, featuring 15 of Indian sports Golden Girls in one large spread on its cover. In the Grihshobha Golden Girls Grand Annual (May issue), 15 of the top athletes of Indian sports, who have made their mark on the international stage, come together on a single platform to share their story of struggle, perseverance, and success. All of them underwent an image makeover under the supervision of some of the top stylists with some of the most renowned designers including Rohit Bal weaving the sartorial magic on them. Shot by one of best lens-men in the country these Golden Girls are now gracing the cover of Grihshobha in all its eight language editions (Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Bangla, Tamil, Telegu and Malayalam). The May issue of all the eight language editions of Grihshobha features the 15 Golden Girls on the cover in stunning evening wear as a three-fold spread, while their inspirational stories of success are carried inside the magazine.

Through their grit, determination and sheer hard work, these Golden Girls of Indian sports rose to the top of their game. Their inspiring stories are the motivation for several small town girls who feel confident knowing the real toil behind the golden girls' success. The Golden Girls who have graced the cover of Grihshobha include current world no. 3 in badminton Saina Nehwal, ace shooters Anjali Bhagwat and Shweta Chaudhary, squash player Dipika Pallikal, chess grandmaster Tania Sachdev, discus thrower Krishna Poonia, kick-boxer Laxmi Tyagi, athletes Manjit Kaur, Sinimol Poulose and Sudha Singh, judo champion Kalpana Devi, gymnast P Minakshi, kabbadi player Pooja Sharma, wrestling pro Anita and the captain of Indian women's cricket team Mithali Raj. In a country dominated by a male perspective that sports is a 'man' thing, these sports stars have broken the stereotype and have run the same route as men. They have shown that their bodies too can take extreme pressures and work a sweat.

This is for the first time ever, that India's most powerful sports women who have achieved glory across global sports came together on one platform. This special initiative by Grihshobha to bring together India's most acclaimed sports women, bringing alive their inspiring stories of success was very warmly welcomed by the advertising fraternity.

This grand annual comes close on the heels of a path-breaking print innovation that the Delhi Press team had engineered in its April first issue. The SuperWrap innovation done for the Bangalore based client, Tanishq, had the entire industry pleasantly surprised and asking for more.

“With 15 stunning Indian sports women dominating the 3-page gatefold cover and a multitude of glamour photographs of each individual sports women along with extensive editorial inputs, this issue is a game changer as far as language publications are concerned. Not only does it set new innovative benchmarks that have become the byword from Delhi Press but also its editorial content gives it an amazingly long shelf life as young women view this issue as a collector's issue and an inspiration for the future,” said Paresh Nath, Editor & Publisher of Grihshobha.

“Grihshobha is a legacy brand with 32 years of rich history and a very dedicated and involved readership. It has been an agent of change for scores of women across India. The editorial content is always geared towards enriching the lives of Indian women. In fact our recent brand campaign takes this thought a step further, and very clearly enunciates the brand promise, so this Grand Annual where we captured the real struggle behind the success was a natural extension,” elaborates Anant Nath, Director Delhi Press Group.

Amyt Bhatia, Director – Advertising Sales & Marketing, adds that, “Grihshobha enjoys a premium position in the minds of our readers as well as our advertisers and we need to constantly reinvent ourselves.

Grihshobha Golden Girls is a co-created property and all our advertisers have supported this cause to the hilt. J&J Stayfree is the principal advertiser in this issue and has supported the story of each of the 15 Golden Girls. It is our ode to the inherent strength of Indian women and a mark of our continued commitment to building a better reader experience which is far more engaging,” avers Amyt Bhatia

“We have consolidated our leadership position in terms of editorial offering and production quality of our magazines. All the language editions of Grihshobha have been editorially improved in terms of design and presentation. Now we are concentrating on putting together special content to give a more immersive experience to our readers. This was a step in that direction and we carried it through in all 8 language editions,” concludes Anant Nath, Director, Delhi Press Group.
