IRS Q4 2010: Top 10 Dailies In Jharkhand

Top publications see more green in Jharkhand; Hindustan maintains high growth.

publive-imageThe No.1 daily of Jharkhand Hindi daily 'Hindustan' has delivered its best in the state in comparison to other markets. The newspaper has registered an overall growth of 30.5% over the year. Its current AIR stands at 17.66 lakh as compared to 16.3 lakh in Q3, 14.69 lakh in Q2 and 13.53 lakh in Q1.

The second largest read daily in Jharkhand 'Prabhat Khabar' has also seen the same growth rate as Hindustan. Its average issue readership has gone up by 31% during the year. The AIR of Prabhat Khabar in Jahrkhand stands at 12.86 lakh in IRS Q4 2010 as compared to 11.33 lakh in Q3, 10.01 lakh in Q2 and 9.81 lakh in Q1.

publive-image'Dainik Jagran', the No.3 daily in the state has registered a growth of 8% in the fourth quarter of IRS 2010. Dainik Jagran has recorded an AIR of 8.88 lakh as compared to 8.23 lakh in Q3, 8.2 lakh in Q2 and 8.54 lakh in Q1.

Like Bihar, 'Aj' has lost its share in Jharkhand also during fourth quarter of IRS 2010. The 4th largest read daily of the state has declined by 13.2% in IRS Q4 2010. Its current AIR stands at 1.12 lakh as compared to 1.29 lakh in previous quarter. The newspaper has added 44,000 readers in Q3 while it had added 8,000 readers in Q2. The daily has registered an overall growth of 45.5% during 2010.

The surprise entry at No.5 is English daily 'I-Next' with an AIR of 93,000 in IRS Q4 2010.

Now at No.6, English daily 'The Telegraph' has an AIR of 82,000 in IRS Q4 2010 as compared to 74,000 in Q3, 75,000 in Q2 and 78,000 in Q1.

At 7th spot, 'Hindustan Times' sees no change in its readership in this quarter. The English daily has recorded an AIR of 70,000. The paper has grown by 27.3% over the year.

At No.8 in Jharkhand is English daily 'The Times of India' which has also not shown any improvement and recorded an AIR of 69,000 in IRS Q4 2010 which is similar to the previous survey.

Bangla daily 'Anand Bazar Patrika' holds the 9th spot with AIR of 35,000 in IRS Q4 2010 as compared to 30,000 in previous quarter.

The business daily 'The Economic Times' (English) is the last in top 10 list with AIR of 22,000.
