IRS Q3 2010: Top Dailies In Himachal Pradesh

Amar Ujala regains its top spot in the state which has comparatively less consumption of newspapers.

Himachal Pradesh has again witnessed and welcomed Amar Ujala as the No.1 newspaper of the state which was replaced by Punjab Kesri in the previous quarter. Growing by 5% in the third quarter of IRS 2010, Amar Ujala has recorded an AIR of 3.90 lakh as compared to 3.70 lakh in last survey, 4.01 in Q1 and 3.58 in IRS R2 2010.

Punjab Kesri has been pushed by Amar Ujala to No.2. Punjab Kesri has seen a decline in readership in this quarter and has recorded an AIR of 3.83 lakh as compared to 4.06 lakh in the last survey. It had performed well in the past with the AIR of 3.70 lakh in Q1 and 3.37 lakh in IRS R2 2009.

Despite in loss, the 3^rd spot is held by Divya Himachal with a current AIR of 1.57 lakh as compared to 1.67 lakh in last survey.

After losing heavily in the second quarter, Dainik Bhaskar has been able to recover up to some extent. The newspaper has recorded  an AIR of 74,000 in IRS Q3 2010 as compared to 61,000 in Q2, 83,000 in Q1 and 97,000 in IRS R2 2010.

At No.5 in the state is The Tribune with a current AIR of 48,000 as compared to 46,000 in IRS Q2 2010.

Dainik Jagran has seen a sharp decline in its readership in third quarter of IRS 2010. Its AIR now stands at 36,000 as compared to 42,000 in the previous quarter.

7^th and 8^th spot are held by English Dailies Hindustan Times and The Times of India with AIR of 15,000 and 14,000 respectively.
